GEORGE L. HAMILTON

Tupelo, Miss. " George L. Hamilton, 79, died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born December 25, 1927, in Franklin, Indiana to the late Henry and Yolanda Legan Hamilton. He ran cross country at Franklin College in Indiana and was later called to serve in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the plant manager of Arvin Industires in Tupelo, MS and retired as the Vice President of International Affairs at Cosco, Inc. in Columbus, Indiana in 1988.

A Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Belden United Methodist Church in Belden, Miss. with Rev. Danny Wilburn officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Survivors include four children, Jennifer Collins (David) of Sherman, MS, Kit Poe (Larry) of Collierville, Tenn., Georganna Carter (Tony) of Tishomingo, MS and Noah Hamilton (Sarah) of Mantachie, MS; 12 grandchildren, Kate Robinson, Cody Collins, Chris Poe, Samantha Poe, Michah Herring, Logan Burrage, Cale Carter, Cameron Carter, Catherine Hamilton, Emily Hamilton, Hugh Hamilton, and Jack Hamilton; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Terhune and a brother, Bruce Hamilton.
