GEORGE WINFIELD BELL Guntown - George W. Bell, 85, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility after a brief illness. He was born in Lee County on October 6, 1925 to Willie Milton and Zelma McCarley Bell. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II where he served aboard the U.S.S. Raleigh. He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in the Blair Community. He was an active and devoted member of the Mississippi Square & Round Dance Association for over 50 years. He was a member of the Cedar Hill RCDC and a former member of The Tupelo Luncheon Civitan Club. Services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bobby Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in the Blair Community. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gloria Bell of Guntown; two daughters, Pat Henson (William) and Georgia Ann Bell, both of Guntown; two grandchildren, John Robert Henson (Kim K.) of Guntown and Kim Henson Edwards (Mike) of Belden; one sister, Mauveline Estes of Baldwyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Brenda Diane Bell; his sister, Pauline Kitchens and her husband, John; his brother-in-law, Ray Estes. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Mississippi Square & Round Dance Association.
