Plantersville - Gerald Gene Busby, 68, died Friday, December 12, 2008, after an extended illness. Born March 22, 1940 to Fate and Lula Waldrop Busby, he was a life-long resident of Plantersville. He retired after approximately 30 years as a bulldozer operator. He loved fishing and deer hunting and was a member of Plantersville Baptist Church.
Stateroom services will be 6 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2008 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo with Mr. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Plantersville Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Rusty Busby and his wife, Tami, of Plantersville; four step-children, Peggy Collins and husband, Herbert, of Tupelo, Becky Anthony and husband, Terry, of Tupelo, Linville Walls and wife, Tammy, of New Albany and Kathy Sheffield of Tupelo; one granddaughter, Samantha Busby of Soomerville, Alabama; one step-granddaughter, Kristen Minich of Nettleton and several step-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Bumpas, Icy Clarene Byers, both of Mount Pleasant and Mildred Brandon and husband, Carl of Holly Springs; three brothers, Roosevelt Busby of Abbeville, Larry Phillip Busby and wife, Evelyn, of Byhalia and Doyle Busby of Mount Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his son, Rosie Walls-Busby; one step-grandson; four siblings, William Busby, Carl Lee Busby, Cecil Mae Shoffner and Connie Fay Busby.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
