Tupelo--Gary Wayne Ozbirn, 61, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at North Mississippi Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born January 5, 1946 in Belmont, MS to Carl and Estine Ozbirn. He graduated from Belmont High School where he was an outstanding athlete. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, fishing, golf and watching his granddaughters play soccer, tumble and swim. He was a self employed real estate appraiser and member of the Northeast Mississippi Board of Realtors. He was also an active member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Services will be at 12:00 pm Thursday, May 10 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with David Langerfeld officiating and Dr. Forrest Sheffield assisting. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Johnnie McCullough Ozbirn, one daughter, Carla Ozbirn Brooks (Brett), one son, Mark Ozbirn (Jala), three granddaughters Brett Ashleigh Brooks, Kendall Brooks and Rylie Ozbirn, one sister Joyce Holcomb, one sister-in-law Von Paden, two nephews Kelly Holcomb (Tarji) and Terry Holcomb (Barbara). He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bob Ozbirn, one brother in law L.G. Holcomb.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Langley, Duran Elam, John Sims, Charles Watson, Don Hall, Jerry McAnally, Ronnie Scruggs and Steve McAnally.

Honorary pallbearers are Peggy Joyner, Susan Carter, Beverly Benica and Martha Langley.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
