Tupelo- Frances Harrelson VanBuskirk, 89, lovingly known as "FeFe" by her grandchildren, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Lee County November 9, 1928, to Eugene and Hermione Palmer Harrelson. She was a 1946 graduate of Tupelo High School and had been a Tupelo/Lee County resident all but four years of her life. On June 26, 1948, she married J.C. "Buddy" VanBuskirk and together they had two children. For over 35 years, she worked as a floor supervisor at Blue Bell. Frances found great joy spending time with her family. She loved playing golf with her husband, family and friends at Natchez Trace Golf Club and enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts. She was also an avid reader and board game player and especially enjoyed playing Yahtzee. Frances rarely missed a judge show on television and when she was not watching one of them was tuned to the Game Show Network. She was a member of the former Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Mike VanBuskirk and his wife, Leslie of Belden; one daughter-in- law, Carolyn VanBuskirk of Mooreville; one brother, Bobby Gene Harrelson and his wife, Dot of Tupelo; one sister-in-law, JoAnn Bentley of Saltillo; three grandchildren, Hayley Harrington and her husband, Shane of Mooreville, Harris VanBuskirk of Jackson, Katie VanBuskirk of Memphis; and two great-grandchildren, Wes and Van Harrington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, J.C. "Buddy" VanBuskirk; one son, Ronny VanBuskirk; and one sister, Geraldine Nanney.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday, April 23, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring her life will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Fred Britton officiating. There will be a eulogy and scripture reading by her grandchildren. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
