Tupelo- Frances Evelyn Herndon Green, 83, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House. A native of Amory, she was born June 2, 1935 to James Felix and Jannie Nathalie Nichols Herndon. She was a 1953 graduate of Amory High School. She was married to Robert Oklen Green for nearly 59 years until his death on February 28, 2012. She worked as a secretary in the credit department at BancorpSouth for 25 years before her retirement in 2000. Frances enjoyed playing Rook and Spinner and collecting antique glassware. She also loved tending to her rose garden and traveling. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Tupelo where she worked in the Church Library and participated in the Senior Adult PEP Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Green West and her husband, Kevin S. of Tupelo and Denise Green Martin and her husband, Richard of Richmond Hill, Georgia; three grandchildren, Michelle Richardson and her husband, Bobby of Brandon, Marc Martin of Little Rock, Arkansas and Brian Bullock and his wife, Haley of Missouri City, Texas; two sisters, Sarah Trousdale of Florence, Alabama and Ann Hester of Sulligent, Alabama; and two great-granddaughters, Addison Richardson and Avery Richardson.
Visitation will be 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring her life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. Graveside services will follow in Keyes Cemetery in Itawamba County.
Pallbearers will be Richard Martin, Kevin West, Marc Martin, Brian Bullock, Bobby Richardson, Thomas Wayne Sanderson and Mike Cannon.
