FRANCES FARRIS Dorsey Community - Frances Farris, 90, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A Jackson, Tennessee, native she was born April 20, 1923, to Lois Burt and Lillie Frances Hammonds Cole. For the last 65 years, she has lived in the Dorsey Community. She loved working in her yard and was still actively maintaining it herself until her stroke in June. She then moved to the Sunshine Nursing Home in Pontotoc. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Dorsey Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors will be in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her only child, Vickey Murphree (Fred) of Tupelo; two grandsons, Allen Murphree (Chanis Hall Murphree) of Nettleton and Mark Murphree (Kristen Clikes Murphree) of Mobile, Alabama; one sister, Betty Cole Day of Jackson, Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Odean Farris of Fulton; six nephews, Tommy Day, David Day, Mike Cole and Ronnie Cole all of Jackson, Tennessee, Mike Farris of Fulton and Mark Farris of Olive Branch; seven nieces, Yuonne Turner of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Darlene Cole and Barbara Cole Logon both of Jackson, Tennessee, Jennifer Beam and Linda Farris Pounders both of New Albany, Rhonda Farris of Olive Branch and Billy Faye Fears of Gulfport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hugh Farris in 2000; her parents; three brothers, William Hugh Cole, Carl O'Neal Cole and Lois Burt Cole, Jr.; one sister, Catherine Olene Cole Turner. Visitation will be 10 - 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
