FRANCES L. CURBOW Tupelo - Frances L. Cummings Curbow, 77, died Monday, October 15, 2012, after a sudden illness. She was born October 2, 1935, in Fulton, Mississippi to Douglas and Lizzie Marie Cummings. She was the manager of The Lawhon School cafeteria for many years and later worked with her family at Satellite Vision. When her sons were young, she volunteered a number of years as a Cub Scout leader. Along with her husband, she was active in the Tupelo High School Band Parents Association while her children were in the band program. She was an active and longtime member of East Heights Baptist Church where she had taught both Sunday school and Training Union, sang in the Church choir, and was active with the Church Youth Department. Many young people of the Church fondly remember her helping with the refreshments for East Heights' Vacation Bible Schools which she faithfully did since 1964. She and her husband, volunteered with Central Hills Baptist Retreat RA Camp each summer for a number of years, and also helped with Ridgecrest Baptist Conference Center. She and her husband were members of the Campers on Mission through the Mississippi Baptist Building, and Building for Christ through the Lee County Baptist Association, and had participated in a number of church building mission trips. She had also been a member of the Tator Hills Sams Club camping group. She loved crafts and painting. She was an amazing woman who touched the lives of many children. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at East Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Brown and Rev. Tim Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors will be in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Hoyt C. "Buddy" Curbow; two sons, Rusty Curbow (Rachel) of Tupelo and Jeff Curbow (Robin) of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Riley and Robby Curbow and Michael Tucker; two great-grandchildren, Quinton and Marissa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be 4 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at W.E. Pegues in Tupelo. Memorials may be made to East Heights Baptist Church, 205 Lake Street, Tupelo, Mississippi 38804.
