Frances Ruth Robbins Cantrell
Saltillo- Frances Ruth Robbins Cantrell, 89, died Saturday, June 2, 2018 in the hospice unit of North Mississippi Medical Center. Frances was born in Tupelo, August 8, 1928 to Charley and Flora Baggett Robbins. On May 31, 1944, she married Clarence John "Hoppy" Cantrell. For fifty years, they owned the fruit and vegetable market on Court Street in Tupelo. They also owned the Court Street Recreation Center for approximately 30 years. Before retiring, she enjoyed working for the Salvation Army and later, the Children's Mansion of Tupelo. She was a member of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Hartline and her husband, Mike, and Carol Shirley and her husband, Brad; one son, David Cantrell and his wife, Joyce; two grandchildren, Brandy Cook and her husband, Carson, Emily Boxx and her husband, Cody; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Tate Cook; and her beloved Pug, Maddie and cockatiel, Abigail.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Charlene Robbins Ross; and one brother, James Robbins.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Spring Hill Cemetery.
