TUPELO - Floyd G. Hendrick, 87, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at his home in Tupelo after an extended illness. He was born in Greenville to Robert and Jewel Jones Hendrick, and he moved to Tupelo about eight years ago to be near his family. Mr. Hendrick was a retired postal supervisor, being employed with the U.S. Postal system for more than 55 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, in the Calvary Division under Gen. Douglas MacArthur. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch baseball and football. He loved to do woodworking and spend time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Greenville.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. today at the Tupelo Memorial Gardens with Sammy Lansdell officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emolene P. Hendrick; one daughter, Tangea Aycock and her husband, Brooks of Madison; one son, Gary F. Hendrick and his wife, Marietta Ann of Saltillo; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
