Floyd Francis

June 26, 1923 — December 12, 2008

Tupelo - Floyd Francis Sr., 85, died Friday, December 12, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born June 26, 1923 to Wiley Alva and Betty Hall Francis and was a 1945 graduate of Mooreville High School. He was a life-long resident of Lee County and was employed for 50 years as an office manager with the R. J. Wilemon Construction Company. A faithful member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon and organist for 17 years.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008 at West Jackson Street Baptist Church with Rev. Bert Harper and Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Christine Freeman Francis of Tupelo; two sons, James Francis and his wife, Jo Anne, of Pontotoc and Wayne Francis and wife, Nan, of Tupelo; one grandson, Rob Francis and his wife, Melanie, of Saltillo; two granddaughters, Rae Ann Francis of New Orleans, LA and Amber Francis of Pontotoc; two great grandsons, Caleb Clifton and Gage Strevel of Pontotoc; a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Don Carr, Billy Langford, Billy Spencer, W. O. Smith, Buddy Davis and Wayne Parks.

Honorary Pallbearers will be R. J. Wilemon, the staff of R. J. Wilemon Construction Company and the Charles Sheffield Sunday School Class.

The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the church.
