ONEATA MINK Saltillo - Oneata Mink, 91, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Lee County, she was born June 30, 1921, to Columbus and Ila Eaton Blankenship and for the past twelve years resided in Saltillo. For many years she worked as a seamstress in the furniture industry from which she retired. She loved doing arts and crafts, soft sculptured dolls, quilting, growing her roses and especially loved her family. By faith she was a Methodist. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Mr. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery East of Booneville. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Padgett (John) of Mt. Home, Arkansas and Linda Cody (Roger) of Saltillo; eight grandchildren, Jason Bacon (Amy) of Myrtle, Danny Bacon (Crsytal) of Dorsey, Brian Padgett (Michelle) of Mt. Home, Arkansas, Tim Padgett (Natila) of Springfield, Missouri, Missy Nichols of Biggersville, Ricky Nichols of Benton, Michigan, Mike Nichols of Michie, Tennessee and Tammy Howard of Detroit, Michigan; twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Nichols, two sons, Billy Nichols and Jack Nichols; one brother, Olive Blankenship; two step-sisters, Vera Brady and Virginia Battles; two great-grandsons, Hayden Padgett and Kyle Bland. Pallbearers will be Brian Padgett, Tim Padgett, Danny Bacon, Jason Bacon, Roger Cody and Jason Morris. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Saltillo funeral home.
