FLORENCE T. LANG Tupelo-Florence T. Lang 79, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at her home after a brief illness. Born January 10, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan, she became a Christian at age 18, and during her college years, worked as an interpreter for a missionary. After graduating from college with a degree in education, she taught junior high and high school English in Japan. In 1972, she met and married the late Robert Lang and moved to Tupelo. Throughout her life she worked at Methodist Senior Services, covering seven counties as she ministered to the elderly. She also worked as a dietician at Traceway Manor and loved volunteering for the Tupelo-Lee County Humane Society. She loved the Lord and lived out that love by helping others. She was of the Methodist faith. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Donald Wildmon officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors has charge of the arrangements. Survivors include three sisters, Miyuki Ikegami, Sumie Kido and Haruko Takasu; two brothers, Kazuhiro Takasu and Shigeo Takasu, all of Japan; special friends Kyoko Hester (Kelvin) and Grace Hester of Saltillo, Tracie Lanphere (Rusty) of Tupelo, Mary Holliman Lanphere and Ty Lanphere of Tupelo. She is preceded in death by her husband, two brothers Takaji Takasu and Eiji Takasu. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tupelo-Lee County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1185, Tupelo, MS 38802.
