Flora "May May" Hand
Tupelo - Flora May Hand, 75, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Diversicare in Tupelo. She was born March 8, 1943, to Ralph Hawkins and Hazel Banks Hawkins in Arkansas. She moved to Tupelo to be closer with her family in 1972. She married Kenneth Hand on March 8, 1973. For over twenty years, she was a supervisor at Stanley until her retirement. "May May" loved cookouts and spending time with family.
Survivors include five children, Melinda Brown and her husband David of Saltillo, Leroy Fleming and his wife Pam of Tupelo, Donna Wallis and her husband Clay of Saltillo, Karen Banks and her husband Willie of Guntown, and Jeff Hand of Tupelo; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Foote and Julie Jeffery and two brothers, Ralph Hawkins and John Hawkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hand; her parents, Ralph Hawkins and Hazel Hand; her infant son, Herbie Fleming; three sisters, Faye Whaley, Ollie Beane, and Patty Campbell; and the father of her children, Leroy Fleming.
Visitation will be from 12 until 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Wayne Brown officiating. Graveside services will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Brown, Justin Brown, Josh Criddle, Brandon Brown, Bronson Brown, and Robert Whaley.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.
