FAYE WHALEY
Mantachie - Faye Whaley, 63, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at her son's residence in the Shiloh community after a brief illness. A native of Arkansas, she was born March 8, 1943, to Hazel Banks Hand and the late Ralph K. Hawkins. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was retired from Burchwood Incorporated and was a member of the Pentecostal church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Family Worship Center in Mantachie with the Rev. Timmie Patterson and the Rev. Wesley Kingsley officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include five children, Johnny Whaley and wife, Tina, of Tupelo, Robert Whaley and wife, Johnnie Faye, Sherry White and husband, Billy, all of Mantachie, Jessie Whaley and wife, Jessica, and Keith Whaley and wife, Jenni, all of Tupelo; her mother, Hazel Banks Hand of Mantachie; four sisters including her twin, May Hand of Tupelo, Julia Contreras and husband, Manuel, Alma Foote and husband, Buddy, all of Mantachie, and Ollie Bean and husband, Robbie, of Mooreville; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and a granddaughter, Brandy Whaley.
Pallbearers will be Rebel Sheffield, Joe Bishop, Mickey Underwood, Kevin Williams, Danny Greer Jr. and Manuel Contreras.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today and will continue Sunday at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday.
