FAYE SAXON Tupelo - Betty Faye Saxon, 74, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Pontotoc Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Lee County, Mississippi on June 27, 1940 to William Claude and Lillian Ruth Welch. She was a 1958 graduate of Tupelo High School and received her masters in English from the University of Mississippi. She worked for many years as the speech and drama teacher with the Lee County Schools including Shannon High School, Mooreville and Saltillo. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she previously served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and played the french horn in the church orchestra. She enjoyed her time with friends but most loved the time spent with her family. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors, Tupelo with Dr. Danny Lee Prater officiating and special music by Doug Spires. A graveside will follow at Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Sam Saxon of Tupelo; three children, Terry Wimbs of Plantersville, Malinda Wimbs of Gulfport and Katrina Crafton (Buddy) of Saltillo; four step-grandchildren, Sharon Cardman of Pennsylvania, Charlene Haggard (Matthew) of Idaho, Marian Rhodes (Nelson) of N. Carolina and John Saxon (Patty) of Ohio; one sister, Dot Parmer of Saltillo; two brothers, Dr. Billy Welch (Pat) of Brandon and David Welch (Charlotte) of Tupelo; six grandchildren, Tori Faith, Amber, Collis and Brennan Crafton, Angel Thomas (Harold) and Bobby Berg; six step-grandchildren, Ryan Cardman, Matthew Haggard, Katie and Ella Rhodes and Regina and Danny Saxon; two great-grandchildren, Silas and Sawyer Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lucretia Wimbs and sister, Patricia Lawson. Pallbearers will be Collis and Brennan Crafton, Bobby Berg, Andrew Thompson, Tedd Bourne and Kerry Edwards. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 in the chapel at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
