Faye Lowry
Tupelo- Faye Lowry, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Landmark in Tupelo, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. Born October 16, 1933, in the close-knit Fawn Grove Community to James Nolan Franks and Amanda Frances Hankins Franks, she was the only girl in an extended family full of boys and spent her summers roaming and playing with her cousins in Fawn Grove. Faye embodied the warmth and spirit of her upbringing throughout her life. A proud graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School’s Class of 1952, she was an Indianette with the IAHS-IJC marching band, with tassel boots and all the fringe! She carried her tenacity and intelligence into her career, serving as a secretary at Rockwell International, Interstate Life Insurance Company, Parkway Baptist Church, and Church Street School. It was at Church Street School that Faye discovered her deep love for children, a passion that shaped her life in profound ways.
On August 24, 1956, Faye married the love of her life, Billy Lowry. Together, they built a life full of music, laughter, and shared adventures. Faye was her husband’s biggest fan, cheering him on during every performance of the Monday Night Pickers. A charter member of Parkway Baptist Church, Faye was deeply dedicated to her faith and community. She poured her heart into teaching young children, chaperoning youth trips, singing in the choir, working in the nursery, and serving as a proud member of the WMU. In her spare time, Faye loved her Beta Sigma Phi group and their activities, and also gardening, tending to her flowers with care, and traveling to explore new places, creating cherished memories along the way. Her vibrant spirit, a mix of kindness, love, and occasional feistiness, endeared her to everyone she met.
Faye’s home on Patterson Drive was her sanctuary, where her generosity and hospitality shone brightest. She was known from Mississippi to Montana for her yummy Green beans, they were a staple at every church and family gathering. Known for her large heart, she was always ready to help anyone in need, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives. Whether through her acts of service or her genuine warmth, Faye’s legacy is one of compassion and unwavering love for others. She was the epitome of a soccer grandmother; it brought her great joy spending summers with her Montana grandsons cheering them on during soccer matches. She will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Faye is survived by her husband, Billy Lowry of Tupelo; two children, Bill Lowry and his wife, Joann, of Tupelo, and Kristy Catlin and her husband, Dan, of Billings, Montana; three grandchildren, Justin Hoffman and his wife, Abby, Sam Catlin and his wife, Tiff, and Cole Catlin and his wife, Alyssa; two great-grandchildren, Willow Catlin, and Franklin Catlin; one brother, Roger Franks, and his wife, Gale, of Mooreville; sister-in-law, Mary Jean Reeder and her husband, Ellis, of Pontotoc; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Bryan Trimble, Melissa Welch, Orene Floyd, Bettie Williams, and all of Mrs. Lowry’s caregivers at Landmark for your unwavering compassion and dedication in providing extra care; your kindness has made a lasting difference and is deeply appreciated. During the past few months, her constant companion was Bryan Trimble, who became her special friend and caregiver. He took her into his home during the holidays, to the park, to the beauty shop, and for walks and drives. They were two peas in a pod. She adored him and he gave our family such comfort knowing he cared for her too.
