FAYE EVANS CATES
Tupelo - Faye Evans Cates, 94, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 19, 1911, in the Union community south of Plantersville to the late Thomas Zackery and Sudie Mosley Evans. She worked in sales with Electrolux Vacuums. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers. Her husband, Fred William Cates, preceded her in death in July of 1976.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Lee Memorial Park with the Rev. Rick Ball officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include four children, Cecelia Hughes of Baton Rouge, La., Sara Jane Wilson and husband, Charles, and Carey Cates all of Tupelo, and Lonnie Cates of Oxford; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Wilson of Tupelo, Matt Cates and Chad Cates, both of Dallas, Texas; Aimee Hurley and Susan Power, both of Memphis; six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Fred William Cates Jr.; and a sister, Isolene Hussey.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
