Richmond - Evie Lou Estes, 92, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born January 5, 1916, to the late Charlie and Annie Mae Pettigrew Waycaster. Her life was spent as a homemaker and she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. The joy of her life was taking care of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Louis Norowetz officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Estes Farr of Tupelo; one son, Richard Estes and wife, Janet, of Tupelo; four granddaughters, Lynn Harmon and husband, Gerald, of Nettleton, Lindy Green and husband, Danny Wayne, of Nettleton, Kim Estes Hogue of Plantersville and Jennifer Barber and husband, Dusty, of Mooreville; one step-granddaughter, Kellie Curry and husband, Jay, of Plantersville; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Louise Clayton of Nettleton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, O'Neal Estes who died December 15, 1999; four brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Danny Wayne Green, Blake Green, Gerald Harmon, Jason Harmon, Dusty Barber and Zach Barber.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
