Saltillo - Everett Wilder Cox, 93, died Monday, October 19, 2009, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. He was born February 22, 1916, in Lee County to Redman A. and Hettie Chism Cox. He was the owner of a radio and TV repair business. He enjoyed playing the guitar, vegetable and flower gardening, and spending time with his family. He was a member of West Booneville Church of Christ.
Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Ward Hogland officiating. Burial will be in Euclatubba Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Waldrip Cox of Saltillo; three daughters, Bonnie Cox Huey of Tupelo, Mary Josephine Harbor of Tupelo, and Pamela Keith of Southaven; five sons, Everett E. Cox of Tupelo, Larry Taylor of Fulton, Gerald Cox of Guntown, Jimmy Cox of Guntown, and Terry Cox of Guntown; three step-children, Thomas B. Waldrip (Gloria) of Saltillo, Sylvia Waldrip Johnson (Kenneth) of Nettleton, and Twila Waldrip Chaffin (Harold) of Tupelo; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Eunie Turner who died the same day; 9 brothers 5 other sisters; one granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Ira Taylor, L.B. Sides, Delbert Turner, Jr., Melvin Wages, Curry Harbin, Jessie Dykes. Leroy Campbell will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Saltillo Chapel.
