EVELYN L. CLIFTON
Tupelo - Evelyn Lemons Clifton, 96, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Beverly Health Care after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1910, in the Friendship community of Pontotoc County to the late James Carol and Valerie Duncan Lemons. She lived many years in Pontotoc before moving to Tupelo 34 years ago. A talented seamstress, she sewed for the public for many years. She was also known for her artistic abilities and her love for flower gardening. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tupelo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Gayle Alexander and the Rev. Paul Sims officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Clifton and wife, Annette, of Tupelo; one sister, Sally Stone of Huntsville, Ala.; three grandchildren, Clif Clifton and wife, Michelle, of Mooreville, Anita Wolf and husband, Lee, of Guntown and Charles Coble Clifton and Shannon of Plantersville; nine great-grandchildren, Mike Clifton, Valarie Clifton, Amber McMahon and husband, Matt, Chanda Clifton, Megan Clifton, Krista Alvarado, Jennifer Alvarado, Ethyn English and Noah Timmons; three great-great-grandchildren, Caleb Clifton, Anna Claire Zapada and Lauren Taylor McMahon.
Pallbearers will be Clif Clifton, Charles Clifton, Mike Clifton, Matt McMahon, Lee Wolf, Butch Huey and Dick Stone.
