EVELYN Y. BRANNEN
Mooreville - Evelyn Yione Brannen, 85, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Samaritan Gardens Personal Care Home after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born August 31, 1921 to the late Joseph Thomas and Ida Ava Flanaghan Johnson. Earlier in her working years, she worked at Milam Manufactoring for many years. In her later years, she worked at Tupelo Manor and Lee Manor nursing homes. Being a homemaker was her favorite occupation. She had lived most of her life at Mooreville. She enjoyed being at home raising her garden, spending time with her family and going to church services. She was a charter member of East Main Church of Christ where she attended faithfully until her health declined.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Gary Williams officiating. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Wheeler Hand and her husband, Perry, of Mooreville; one son, Charles Richard Wheeler and his wife, Peggy, of Maggie Valley, North Carolina; one sister, Ethel Ricks of Tupelo; five grandchildren, David Wheeler and his wife, Tammy, of Denver, North Carolina, Paige Anderson and her husband, Todd, of of Maiden, North Carolina, Jennifer Hood and her husband, Randy, of Starkville, Amy Voyles had her husband, Rodney, of Baldwyn, and Heather Dubois and her husband, Lee, of Tupelo; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Clara Griffin, Lucille Outlaw, and Katherine Verkovich; three brothers, John, Ross, and Herman Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Voyles, Lee DuBois, David Wheeler, Jerry Griffin, Larry Golden, Rickey Griffin, and Randy Hood.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007.
