Temple Grove - Eva Dale Caldwell Ponder, 94, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at her residence after a brief illness. A Brewer native, she was born July 7, 1914 to Press and Dora Dye Caldwell. She was a seamstress and was a child care provider for many children over the years, especially her grandson, Johnny. She was a member of East Heights Assembly of God.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at East Heights Assembly of God with Rev. David Lann officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Herndon of the Temple Grove Community; two grandsons, Johnny Herndon of the home, and Barry Herndon (Jennifer) of Arkansas; Mandi Beddingfield (Neil) of Plantersville; three great-granddaughters, Brittany, Kate, and Rachel Herndon; one sister, Maxine Tallant of Tupelo; one sister-in-law, Willie Caldwell of Shannon; a host of nieces and nephews, her next door neighbors and the Herndon family including Bobby Herndon, Jean Brea, Shirley Armstrong and Sadie Hester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ponder; a brother, Stanley Caldwell; a sister, Ruby Rains; a son-in-law, Billy Herndon; and special friends, Alma Herndon, J.E. Herndon and G.A. Herndon
Pallbearers will be Barry Herndon, Kim Herndon, Dennis Bolen, David Bolen, Neil Beddingfield, and John Hall.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Herndon, Danny Bolen, and William Heards Art Class.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
