Eunice Winders

Aliceville, Ala. - Eunice White Winders, 88, died Monday, December 21, 2009, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Facility. She had moved to Aliceville in September of 2008 to be near her son. A native of Burnsville, she was born July 21, 1921, to Victor and Evelyn White. She graduated from Burnsville High School and then attended Florence State Teachers College, now University of North Alabama, in Florence. She was a longtime resident of Tupelo having moved here after her marriage to Jolly Winders in 1942. She was also a longtime member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church. She spent most of her life taking care of others. She worked for Dr. Ozzie Drummond as a dental assistant and retired from the Tupelo School system in 1972, after working as a dietician and managing cafeterias at Bissell School, Joyner School, and Milam/Tupelo High.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with her son, Rev. Tommy Winders and her grandson, Rev. Brian Winders officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include her daughter, Rae Winders Cole (Bill) of Sebring, Fla.; her son, Tommy Winders (Diane) of Carrollton, Ala.; two brothers, Vic White (Lessell) of Denton, Tex. and Jerry White (Louise) of Reidsville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kristi Winders Campbell (Jeff) of Prairieville, La., Kendra Cole Freeman (Rodney) of Basking Ridge, N.J., Carissa Cole Croy (Marshall) of Irondale, Ala., and Brian Winders (Tonya) of Hendersonville, Tenn.; 14 great-grandchildren, Lyndsey and Mary Ashton Campbell of Prairieville, La., Emily, Kacie, Kellie and Nathan Freeman of Basking Ridge, N.J., Abigail, Caleb, and Joshua Croy of Irondale, Ala., and Kaleb, Kaylee, Karis, Katelyn and Karson Winders of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and a host of nieces and nephews..

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Jolly Winders; her brother, James White; and a sister, Virginia Marlar.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Campbell, Marshall Croy III, Rodney Freeman, Bobby Hall, David Hall and Steve Turberville

Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Brown, Mike Chase, Ed Crider, Jimmy Crocket, Robert Post and Donald Winders.

Visitation will be Saturday, one hour prior to service time and immediately following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Carrollton Baptist Church Building Fund, Box 457, Carrollton, AL 35447.
