Eulah Barber

EULAH BARBER Belden - Eulah Barber, 86, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Green Houses at Traceway. She was born February 3, 1927, to Merle and Iver Abernethy. After graduating from Belden High School, she married Boyce Barber and began building a lifetime of memories that extended for over fifty-two years. Her hobbies included a love for quilting and crocheting. One of many things she was known for, was her love of gifting baby shoes to every expectant mother in her church. She was one of the oldest members of Belden Baptist Church and for many years she worked as the church secretary. A celebration of her life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Don Baggett, Rev Jim Holcomb and her nephew, Rev. Tommy Vinson officiating. A graveside will follow at Belden Cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Joan Holcomb (Charles) of the Furrs Community; three sons, Joe Barber (Dean) of Belden, Roy Barber (Patti) of Nettleton and Eddie Barber (Tammy) of the Brewer Community; one sister, Juanita Richey of Knoxville, Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Sue Abernethy of Tupelo; ten grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Iver Abernethy; her husband of fifty-two years, Boyce Barber on June 16, 1998; one sister, Inez Spradling; one brother, Jimmy Abernethy; and one great-grandson, Cooper Barber. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
