EUGENIA DAVENPORT WOOD Tupelo - Eugenia Davenport Wood, 93, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility. A Tupelo native, she was born October 22, 1920, to Jim E. and Ola Reese Davenport. After forty years of service, she retired as a seamstress from Reed Manufacturing. A widow, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Wood on January 19, 1999. The last remaining member of her immediate family, she enjoyed her flowers and spending time with her family. She was a member of East Heights Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Erwin Smith of Tupelo and one grandson, David Smith of Hoboken, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Newell Davenport and Major A. Davenport; four sisters, Jewel Adams, Opal Stevens, Lucille Bishop and Pauline Cullum. Pallbearers will be Buzzy Cullum, David Cullum, Jimmy Stevens, Billy Evans, Billy Wayne Scruggs and Gerry Scruggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack McKinney and John Cunningham. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. till service time Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the funeral home.
