Tupelo - Eugenia Grissom, 88, died Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Community Hospice after an extended illness. She was born September 13, 1921 to Eugene and Lula Cooper Grissom in the Ratliff community in Itawamba County. She was raised in Guntown where she graduates high school. She then graduated from Mississippi State University where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees. During World War II she worked at the ammunition plant in Prairie before settling in Pascagoula. While in Pascagoula, she worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Dantzler Boat and Barge. She was very dedicated to her work and it was a major part of her life. After retirement she enjoyed working for Briesmeister Realty, selling real estate. After 50 years in Pascagoula, she returned to live at Traceway where she stayed until ill health became imminent. She loved to play bridge and was an avid fan of Mississippi State. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Pascagoula.
Private family services were held at the Jefferson street chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Andy Ray officiating.
Survivors include two nieces, Linda King (Tommy) of Okolona, Jeanne Roberson of Tupelo; one great niece, Kim Fellows (Chris) of Dallas, TX; three great nephews, Ty King ( Gidget) of Fredericksburg, VA, Nic Roberson of Memphis, TN, Landon Roberson (Jennifer) of Tupelo; nine great-great nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Nancy Grissom of Tupelo; and lifetime friend Louise Lofton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother,Cooper Grissom.
