EUGENE MILTON PONTON

Tupelo - EUGENE MILTON PONTON, 85, died Monday, February 5, 2007, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Bakersfield native, he was born July 5, 1921 to the late James and Alma Heck Ponton. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles. He was a gifted woodworker. He served in World War II in the Pacific Theater He was a member of Beech Springs Free Will Baptist Church where he was active in Master's Men.

A Memorial Service will be will be held at a later date with Rev., Dennis Kizzire officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Aileen Smith Ponton of Saltillo; two sons, Alan Ponton and wife, Joan, of Mackay, ID, and Phillip Ponton and wife, Carol, of Saltillo; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Gress, Michael Ponton, James Chamberlain, Lisa Carter, Leanna Leslie, Melissa Ponton and Shelby Ponton; 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beech Springs Free Will Baptist Church Masters Men, 146 CR 1702, Saltillo, MS 38866
