Atlanta, GA - Ernest Eugene Hughes, Jr., 42, went on to be with the Lord, Friday, August 29, 2008. He was born in Tupelo, on January 19, 1966 to Gene and Linda Carol Whirley Hughes. He was a 1984 graduate of Mooreville High School and a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He was a member of East Heights Baptist Church. He was an entertainer, songwriter and a very loving and caring person.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jerry King officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his parents; Gene and Linda Hughes; one sister, Tanya Wilson and her husband, Larry, of Mantachie; two brothers, Andy Hughes and his wife, Merrie, and Matt Hughes and his wife, Amy, all of Tupelo; three nephews, Justin Wilson and his wife, Jennifer and Bryan Carter all of Mantachie and Jake Hughes of Tupelo; two nieces, Stephanie Raper and her husband, Robby, of Mantachie and Mattie Hughes of Tupelo; great niece Mackenzie Raper and great nephew, Daniel Raper, both of Mantachie.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ruth Jenkins and his paternal grandparents, Ernest and Vitress Hughes.
