Eugene Hall

Verona - Henry Eugene Hall, 83, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 3 a.m. at the Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks after a lengthy illness. He was born December 1, 1925, to William Henry Hall and Mary Ellen Askew Hall in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Mr. Hall attended Palmetto and Verona High Schools. He Worked for Blue Bell Clothing Manufacturers for nearly 30 years and then about 25 years for Reeds Manufacturing before his health became an issue to him.

Mr. Hall was a very active member of the Verona United Methodist Church since 1952, serving in many capacities. He taught the sixth and seventh grade Sunday School Class for many years. His greatest joy was working with the youth of the church and community. He loved his church and each member, and always held his pastors in the highest regard.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Verona United Methodist with Rev. Dennis Fink and Rev. Buddy Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Verona City Cemetery with W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel Sheffield Hall of Verona; his brother, Buddy Hall of Verona; four sisters-in-law, Maxine Sheffield of Tupelo, Irene Foster of Baldwyn, Mildred Grammer and Dorothy Culver both of Tupelo; two special nieces, Elizabeth Raines and Shelia Raines, both of Saltillo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stephen Hall; and one brother, James Hall.

Pallbearers will be The Challengers Sunday School Class, Bill Hinds, Clifton Hodges, Ray Blythe, James Drake, Ken Stephens and Frank Marshall.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Verona United Methodist Church or Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks.
