Etola "Tobie" Murphy
Belden- Etola Wayne "Tobie" Murphy, 90, went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 19, 2018. She was born September 27, 1927 and lived a remarkable life. She co-authored the book, "Tobie and Carl," which detailed how she was a strong and forgiving woman. Tobie loved all of God's creatures, (particularly dogs and birds) and all children. She was a loving, trusted babysitter, which earned her the name "Nanny," which was given to her by her granddaughter, Bonnie.
Survivors include two daughters, Mitzi Murphy Phillips and her husband Paul, and Lisa Murphy Taylor; five grandchildren, Candice Cayson, Molly Edwards and her husband Chris, Ashton Franks, Bonnie McMillan and her husband Brandon, and Natalie Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Brannigan, Ivy Edwards, Jaggers Edwards, Lyza, Landyn and Lucy McMillan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David E. Thorn and Cara Burch Thorn; husband Carl Murphy Jr.; son Pete Murphy; grandson Brad Murphy; and daughter Lana Murphy Franks.
Pallbearers will be Paul Phillips, Brandon McMillan, El Wood, Chad Blankenship, Bill McNutt, and Jeff Jaggers.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until service time Saturday June 23, 2018 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday June 23, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry Pierce officiating.
She will be laid to rest by her late husband, Carl Murphy Jr., at the Belden Cemetery.
