Tupelo - Ethel Huffman, 88, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born November 27, 1921, in Burlison, Tenn. to C.M. and Lillie McMillin Baskin. She made her home in Burlison until 2000 when she moved to Tupelo. She was married to Milton Russell Huffman, a World War II veteran, for 37 years until his death in 1984. Ethel instilled in many children the love of learning and knowledge during her 36 year teaching career in Tipton County, Tennessee. She was an avid reader and loved working in her yard.
She was an active member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Burlison, TN for many years and has been a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Tupelo and the Ruth Sunday School Class since 2002.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Munford Funeral Home Chapel in Munford, TN with Rev. Ricky Young officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Covington, Tenn.. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the local arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Frank Huffman of Burlison, TN; two daughters, Jan West of Tupelo with whome she lived, and Nancy Bomar (Jim) of Drummonds, TN; eight grandchildren, Kristi Walker (James), Bryan Huffman (lara), Aaron Huffman (Nina), Emily Morris (Charles), Landon Huffman, Chris Bomar (Samantha), Dawson Hufman, and Frank Douglas Huffman; and four great-grandchildren..
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Bryan Huffman, Aaron Huffman, Dawson Huffman, Frank Douglas Huffman, Chris Bomar, Jay Walker,and Charles Morris.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Montgomery, Randy Montgomery, Eddie Craig, Anthony Huffman and Dalton Huffman.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Munford Funeral Home.
