Ethel S. Conover

ETHEL CONOVER New Albany - Ethel Sawyer Conover, 89, passed away peacefully Monday, July 14, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born in Pitt County, NC on August 20, 1924 to John Thomas and Effie Isabelle McKeel Sawyer. She moved to Washington, D.C. for 40 years, Helena, MT for 20 years, Charlottesville, VA for 6 years, Mount Juliet, TN for a number of years, and New Albany for a little over a year. She is a graduate from Oxon Hill High School in Maryland in 1943. She was an FBI and Department of Agriculture employee in Washington. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church of New Albany. Private family memorial service to be held at later date. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of making the arrangements. Survivors include her two sons Richard Conover (Deborah) of Mount Juliet, TN and Terry Conover (Jennifer) of New Albany; nine grandchildren, Carolyn Smith (Graham), Kimberly Biberstein (Jason), Richard Conover Jr., Jillian Conover, Tyler Culpepper (Kirstan), Jason Culpepper, Jessica Culpepper (Nathan Broner), Sharidy Johnson and Shaina Neece (Joseph); seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Biberstein, Samantha Biberstein, Josephine Biberstein, Carter Smith, Bailey Broner, Aiden Culpepper and Aubree Neece. She was preceded in death by her husband Philip W. Conover; her daughter, Rebecca Jill Conover; her sisters, Lena Lassiter and Myrtle Holly.
