Mantachie - Ernie L. Clayton, 71, died Saturday, September 13, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born July 27, 1943 in Mississippi. Services will be 11 a.m Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Bro. Gerald Gann officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Garden. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include Three Children; Clyde Clayton (Mellisa) of Booneville, Robert Clayton (Sharon) of Walnut, Belinda Huddleston (Trent) of Booneville; One brother, Ray Clayton (Laverne) of Mooreville; Three sisters, Birdie Palmer of Tupelo, Dovie Seminary of Tupelo, Jean Stewart (Gene) of Town Creek, Al ; Four Grandchildren, William Gregory Clayton (April) of Columbus, Tiffany Clayton of Walnut, Dylan Ray Clayton of Booneville, and Savannah Clayton of Booneville; One great-grand daughter, Kayley Renia Elizabeth Chamblee of Walnut. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Clayton; his parents; one brother, Vester Jimmy Lee Clayton. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the funeral home.
