Ernest "Ernie" Smith

Saltillo - Ernest "Ernie" Brabson Smith, 70, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, in Tupelo. He was born November 6, 1947, to Ernest and Van Rose Smith in West Point. Ernie served four years with the U. S. Army. In 1979, he married Margaret Sue Gorrell. He earned his Masters degree in Business Administration from Mississippi State University. For a number of years, he was a Software Implementation Consultant for Fortune 500 companies. In his free time, Ernie enjoyed hunting, attending Mississippi State games, and riding motorcycles. He was Episcopalian by faith.
Survivors include his spouse, Margaret Sue Smith of Saltillo, MS; two sons, Brad Smith and his wife Kim of Valley Village, California, and Will Heath and his wife Vanessa of Delta Junction, Alaska; eight grandchildren, Britaney, Brandon, Kane, Meghan, Frankie, Ellie, Garrett, and Levi; one brother, Sam Smith and his wife Julie of Fort Payne, Alabama; two sisters, Emily Harris and her husband Billy of West Point, and Cindy Wall and her husband Jim of Suwanee, Georgia; and special friends, Bart and Rose Wynn, Ken and Pat Hoppe, George Mickle, and Jimmy Belk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Chris Smith; and one daughter, Kim McQuagge.
Services will be Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 4 p.m. at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues.
