ERNEST B. RAGSDALE



Baldwyn - Ernest B. Ragsdale, 82, died on his birthday, Saturday, December 21, 2013, at his residence in the Friendship Community. A Desoto County native, he was born in 1931, to William Wesley and Minnie Bell Payton Ragsdale. He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. Ernest loved baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Caring for his dog, ?Lucy? was one of the great joys of his life in his later years. He had been a member of Friendship Baptist Church a number of years before becoming affiliated with East Mount Zion Baptist Church.



A service honoring his life will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Bill Adams. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery in Union County.



Survivors include one daughter, Carol Warren (Jerry) of Woodstock, Alabama; one son, Jeff Ragsdale (Brenda) of Guntown; three step-children, Linda Keith (Gerald) and Curtis Swanson all of Guntown and Lawanda Hardin (Steven) of Sherman; five grandchildren, Danny Darling and Nikia Wilson both of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Shelly Wilson of Knoxville, Tennesse, Tabitha Johnson of Jonesville, Louisianna and Kayla Cook of New Albany; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Myra Stonesifer of the Center Community; and a number of step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Lavelle Ragsdale who died November 4, 2012; and two step-sons, James and Tommy Jones.



Pallbearers will be Roger, Dewayne, Tracy, Jeremy Ragsdale, Chris Morris and Kevin Lessell.



Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at W. E. Pegues in Saltillo.
