ERNEST E. ESTES

Belden - Ernest E. Estes, 89, died Friday, April 6, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Mississippi October 16, 1917 to the late Mannie and Selma Shumpert Estes. He was a US Army veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of Belden Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He worked as a farmer and will be remembered as a good husband, father and grandfather.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Carl Estes and Rev. Riddick Owens officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Thelma Fowler Estes of Belden; one daughter, Linda Enfinger of Belden; two sons, Paul Larry Estes and wife, Lotona, of Belden, and Rev. Carl Estes and wife, Beverly, of Spring Creek, NV; four sisters, Foy Basden, Mae Ruth, Ellen Stroup, and Lucille Allen; two brothers, Mannie Estes and John T. Estes; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Jones and a brother, Leonard Estes.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Snider, James Estes, Chris Estes, Roy Lenn Christian, Charles Fowler, and Frank Leggins.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
