Saltillo - ERMIE HALLMARK, 89, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, under the loving care of her niece, Anna Yancey. A Lee County native, she was born June 5, 1918 to the late Clarence and Clara Landers. A member of Eggville Church of Christ she enjoyed many a Sunday listening to the choir. After retirement from Ohio, she and her husband, Cleasy, started a family farm with many fruit trees, vegetable and flower gardens. Her farm was a retreat for many stray animals who found a loving home there. Her favorite times were spent quilting, gardening, and crocheting. A gracious neighbor that would give you the shirt off her back.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 11 2008, at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Minister Leon Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Rodney Payne of California and Jack Payne of Saltillo; 7 grandchildren, Poppy Payne and Dylan Payne both of Milwaukee, WI, Tammy Thompson , Sissy Krause, Darene Willis, Fletcher Payne and Kenny Payne all of California; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Cleasy Hallmark; two sons, Robert Hallmark and Jeff Payne; her parents; and her sisters and brothers.
Pallbearers will be Jack Payne, Rodney Payne, Shane Smith and Dee Mallette.
Visitation will be noon, Friday, April 11, 2008 until service time at the Saltillo funeral home.
