Erma Finney

Saltillo- Erma Louise Granny Finney, 90, died May 14, 2009 at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born in Pontotoc County September 3, 1918, to Cecil and Lula Elizabeth Bolton Scruggs. She retired from Hunter Sadler in 1986, where she was employed as a seamstress for 33 years. For many years, she attended First Baptist Church of Saltillo. She will be remembered by most as a good friend and generous neighbor, but most of all as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved and cared for her family unconditionally and with great generosity. She enjoyed tending her garden, planting flowers and caring for her many pets. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Rick Burton officiating. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery.

She leaves behind one son, Johnny Campbell (Jan) of Southaven; four grandchildren, Suzanne Ericksen (Steven) of Guntown, Carrie Martin (Kevin) of Helena, Alabama, Greg Finney (Rita) of Baldwyn, and Keri Sims (Jr.) of Milton, Florida; nine great-children, Coley Davis, Burke Ericksen, Jake and Eli Martin, Brett and Ryan Finney, T. C. Cassius, Eric and Andy Dalgliesh; two brothers, Cecil Scruggs of Dallas, Texas, Hansel Scruggs (Mary) of Okolona; a number of nieces and nephews and her dear friends and neighbors, Ronnie and Sharon Dunaway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Bonner Campbell and B. C. Finney; one son Marine Corp. Major Charles Campbell Finney, who died in Vietnam; four brothers, and a sister.

Pallbearers will be, Steven Ericksen, Kevin Martin, Greg Finney, Ronnie Dunaway, Rick Tapp, and Rocky Dunaway.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Saltillo funeral home.
