Erlene Hall McCaskill

July 2, 1928 — January 14, 2019

Erlene Hall McCaskill, 90, passed from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father January 11, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness.
Erlene, known as “Nanny” to her family, was born July 2, 1928 in Plantersville, to Turnage and Jessie Mae Matthews Mattox. She graduated from Plantersville High School in 1947. On November 27, 1947 she married Leonard Hall and the couple made their home in Tupelo. Leonard preceded her in death in 1972.
She was a homemaker and later worked at the Lawhon school cafeteria and Tupelo Aluminum Products, retiring in 1990.

A charter member of the East Heights Garden Club, Erlene had a talent for growing flowers and tomatoes. One of her joys was tending her many beautiful plants on her sun porch.
Erlene had an indomitable spirit and was a two-time cancer survivor. She participated for many years in the Camp Bluebird cancer survivors support group. Despite the hardships she endured in life, she lived life with joy and enthusiasm. She was known by family and friends alike for her kind heart, thoughtfulness, and sense of humor.  Erlene lived her faith through her love and devotion to family and friends. Christmas was always a special time for the family at Nanny’s house for the way she loved to decorate for the holiday and bake cakes, pies, bread and biscuits for them.
Erlene is survived by her three children and their spouses, Dennis and Lisa Hall of Tupelo; Jan and Bobby Thomas of Tishomingo, MS; and Matt and Denise Hall of Breckenridge, TX.
