ERIS SMITH
Saltillo - Eris Smith, 83, died Thursday, December 7, 2006, at her residence after a sudden illness. A Saltillo native, she was born April 16, 1923 to the late W. T. and Ora Brooks Smith. She was employed with F.W. Woolworth Company in Mobile, Ala., retiring after 37 years of service. She enjoyed her family and friends and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church but attended First United Methodist Church of Saltillo.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Tommy Dodlar Smith, and wife, Peggy, of Saltillo; a sister, Prebaline Gist and husband, Herman, of San Mateo, Calif.; a brother, Tom Smith and wife, Lola Mae, of Saltillo; two grandchildren, Bill Smith and wife, Wendy, of Wilmore, Ky., and Beth Smith Allen, and husband, Eric, of Birmingham, Ala; four great-grandchildren; Jordan and Andy Beth Smith and Cade and Sidney Allen. .
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Clark; and two brothers, Earl and Glen Smith.
Pallbearers will be Billy Irwin, Ronnie Hill, Mickey McGill, Aubrey Harris, Jewell Smith, and Ken Smith.
Honoarary Pallbearers will be her friends at the Magnolia Appartments in Saltillo.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Saturday at the Saltillo Chapel.
