Mooreville - Elzie Van Mansell, 86, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at the Page Green House at Traceway after an extended illness. A Lee County native and lifelong resident, he was born August 27, 1922 to the late Roy Clad and Emma Zura Wallace Mansell. He grew up in the Saltillo area before moving to Mooreville in 1970. He worked as a truck driver for 40 years and enjoyed vegetable gardening
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Mr. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruby P. Mansell of Mooreville; two daughters, Kathy Johnson and husband, Gene, of Pontotoc and Teresa Holcomb and husband, Ronnie, of Pontotoc; one son, Hoyle Mansell and wife, Sherry, of Mooreville; five grandchildren, Tonya Harris and husband, James, of Mooreville, Steven Mansell and wife, Amanda, of Guntown, Brandon Mansell of Mooreville, John Barnett of Pontotoc, Belen Johnson of Pontotoc; five great-grandchildren, Tamara Arnold , Nathan Harris, and Logan Harris, all of Mooreville, Walker Mansell and Laura Kate Mansell both of Guntown.
Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and will continue Friday until 9 p.m. at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
