Tupelo - Elsie M. Collier, 90, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born October 14, 1917, in Itawamba Co. to G.E. and Verda Stanford Moore. She lived all of her life in Tupelo, graduating from East Tupelo High School in 1936, where she was a member of the basketball team. Earlier in her life she had worked for Reed Bros. Manufacturing, and as a supervisor for Blue Bell. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Savings Oil for many years, retiring in 1979. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Priceville Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Tutor officiating and her son, Rev. Warner Collier, Jr. will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Warner Johnson Collier, Sr. of Tupelo; two daughters, Carol Newcomb and husband, Everett, of Corinth and Joye Bailey and husband, Philip of Tupelo; one son, Rev. Warner Collier Jr. and wife, Margaret, of Beeville, Tex.; 11 grandchildren, David Bailey and wife, Eileen, Paul Bailey and wife, Holly, Melissa Bailey, Brian Keith, Lisa Baggett and husband, Anthony, John Collier and wife, Cathy, Jason Collier and wife, Angela, Melissa Seal and husband, Eddie, Elizabeth Collier, Matthew Collier and Jason Newcomb and wife, Desiree'; 15 great-grandchildren, Michael Bailey, Caitlin Bailey, Annalise Bailey, Claire Bailey, Hunter Keith, Brayden Keith, Chase Baggett, Andy Bailey, Chris Bailey, Warner Collier, Iv, Jacob Collier, Aaron Collier, Luke Seal, Jakub Newcomb, and Jack Newcomb.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and her granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Priceville Baptist Church.
