Auburn - Jeannie Eloise Morgan, 83, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at her residence after an extended illness. An Alabama native, she was born July 25, 1922, to the late Romie Oscar and Elsie White Underwood. She was a graduate of Shannon High School and a member of Crossroads Christian Church. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She was a dedicated Christian wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and will be remembered as the rock who held her family together.


Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Priceville Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim McMillan officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Roy Morgan; two daughters, Mary Rayburn and husband Bill, and Cathy Gamble and husband, James, all of the Auburn community; two sons, Phil Morgan and wife, Beverly, and Roy Morgan Jr., and wife, Bettye, all of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Marilyn Frierson and husband, Clemon, of Verona, Jeannie Senter and husband, John, of Shannon, Heather Geisken and husband, Jay, of Mooreville, and Amanda and Alaina Gamble, Tara and Anna Morgan, and Denise Walker, all of Auburn; three great-grandchildren, Austin Pannell, John Thomas Senter II and Bryce Geisken; one sister, Louise Chism and husband, James, of Pascagoula; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Underwood.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Webb, Billy Waller, Scott Callahan, Avalon Tindoll, Carey Carnathan and James Chism.

Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Anglin and Crafton Gillentine.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
