Elmer L. Hutcheson
PLANTERSVILLE -- Elmer L. Hutcheson, 72, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at his home after a long illness. He was born in Lee County to W.P. Hutcheson and Effie Floyd Hutcheson. He was a longtime resident of Plantersville. He was a 1952 graduate of Cedar Hill High School. He was the owner and operator of Hutcheson Motors in Plantersville for 41 years. He was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and Tupelo Lodge No. 318 Scottish Rites and Shriner. He was a reserve officer for the Lee County Sheriff Department. An antique car buff, he loved old cars, hunting, fishing, camping and his grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues. The Rev. Alton Elrod will officiate, and the Rev. John Weith will assist. Burial will be in the Plantersville Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Rutia (Jesus), Sharon Sheffield (Elliot) and Renee Morris (Michael), all of Tupelo; one brother, the Rev. Felix Hutcheson Jr. of Blue Springs; four grandsons, Billy Crumpton (Vicki), Jonethan Morris and Jeremy Morris, all of Tupelo, and Wesley Stokes of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Gable Hutcheson; two sisters, Lola Mae McBrayer and Ella Jane Scarbrough; and four brothers, Thomas Hutcheson, Benton Hutcheson, Leland Hutcheson and Robert Hutcheson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
