Tupelo - Ella Mae Mason, 74, died Thursday, September 23, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born July 22, 1936 to Comer A. and Flora Ellen Gentry. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church for 31 years and then served with her husband at First Baptist Church in Houston for several years thereafter. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a gracious woman who loved the Lord. She enjoyed gospel music, especially the Gaithers. The joy of her life was her grandchildren, whom she doted on.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Harrisburg Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Tutor, and Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Graveside services will be 6 p.m. at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens in Houston with Rev. David Smith. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Jamil "Jay" Mason; one daughter, Shelia Mason both of Tupelo; special and devoted, second daughter, Linda L. B. White (Rick) of Mooreville; Six grandchildren, Jack, Max and Abby Mason of Jacksonville, FL and Margaret Ann, Charlie and Jake Horton of Tupelo; one sister, Camellia Ray (Donald) of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lester A. Mason; her parents; one brother, Comer A. Gentry.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Alan Flowers, Craig Horton, Richard Sisk, Joe Criddle, Jeff Sewell and Murray Coward.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Rev. David Langerfeld, Marvin Harwood, Rick White, Darren Hudson, Bert Hill, Lonnie Whitt and James Eric Blissard.
Visitation will be 3 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
