Tupelo - Elizabeth Sheffield, 91, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Plantersville native, she was born August 27, 1916 to Tom and Bessie Brinkley Foster. She married Lurton Sheffield October 22, 1934. During her working career she worked in the garment industry. She loved animals and flowers, especially roses. She was a lady with great faith and loved to share her beautiful plants with friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Lee Acres Church of Christ.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Jerry Grammer officiating. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery.
Survivors include four sons, Hoyt Sheffield and wife, Bobbie, George Sheffield and wife, Pat, James Sheffield, all of Tupelo, and Robert Sheffield and wife, Francine, of The Hague, Netherlands; eight grandchildren, John Hoyt Sheffield, Andy Sheffield, Sherry Davis, Ted Sheffield, Jerome Sheffield, James M. Sheffield, Shana Sheffield, and Hope Pittman; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rena McVay and Minne Vanderford and husband, Amos; one brother, William Bill Foster and wife, Quina Mae; one sister-in-law, Eva Foster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lurton Sheffield; a son, John Kenneth Sheffield; her second husband, Henry Spearman; her sister, Myrtle Bell; two brothers, Presley Foster and Thomas Tommy Foster
Pallbearers will be John Hoyt Sheffield, Andy Sheffield, Ted Sheffield, Jerome Sheffield, and James Sheffield and Jeremy Pittman.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and also 1 p.m. until service time Sunday.
