ELIZABETH B. DUKE
TupeloElizabeth Barnes Duke, 83, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A life long Tupelo resident, she was born October 10, 1922, in Mooreville to the late William Prentiss and Floy Estelle Ballard Barnes. She graduated from Tupelo High School and then attended Mississippi State College for Women. She had worked for Milam Manufacturing and then worked many years as a bookkeeper for Comfort Engineering. She was a faithful and active member of Bissell Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. David Langerfeld officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of over 51 years, Claude Duke; one son, Bill Duke and wife, Patsy; one granddaughter, Rebecca Duke and one grandson, David Duke, all of Tupelo; one sister, Mary Catherine Kellum and husband John Harold, of Guntown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Barnes Boggan and three brothers, Prentiss, James and Tommy Barnes.
Pallbearers will be the Adult II Mens Sunday School Class of Bissell Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
