ELIZABETH "SIS BAIN

Tupelo - ELIZABETH NICHOLS "SIS BAIN, 82, died Monday, February 12, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. An Itawamba Co. native and long time Tupelo resident, she was born September 22, 1924 to the late Murrah and Onnie Pennington Nichols. She was a 1941 graduate of Tupelo High School. During her working career she was employed by the State Tax Commission, Tupelo Auto Parts, Electrolux,W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors, and TRI Realty. She enjoyed her annual trips to the beach, working crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her family. She was the Neighborhood Chairman for Prairie Girl Scout Council. She was married to James Lee Bain for 54 years, and their central focus in life was the education of their children and grandchildren. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Bryant Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include three daughters, Susan Bain Chisum and husband, A.B., of Jonesville, La., Betty Bain Ridenhour and husband, Calvin, of Germantown, Tenn., and Sallye Bain Stewart and husband, Clay, of Tupelo; one son, Jim Bain and wife, Deb, of Tupelo; twelve grandchildren, John Chisum and wife, Kellie, of Sicily Island, La., Daniel Ridenhour and wife, Emily, of Rock Hill, S.C., Ross Ridenhour and wife, Sloane, of Memphis, Tenn., David Ridenhour of Columbus, OH, Lee Ridenhour, of Germantown, Tenn., Ginnie Bain Waite and husband, Denny, of Tupelo, Bo Bain of Tupelo, Anna Lauren Bain, of Tupelo, Walt Stewart, Will Stewart, Andrew Stewart, and A.J. Stewart, all of Tupelo; one great-granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Waite of Tupelo; two step-great-granddaughters, Phoebe and Winnie Alewine, of Rock Hill, S.C.; one brother, Billy Nichols and wife, Joan, of Hollywood, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Addine Nichols Dabbs and Murrah Lou Nichols Whitesides; and one brother, Mitchell Elliott Nichols.

In honor of their grandmother, her grandsons will serve as pallbearers, John Chisum, Daniel Ridenhour, Ross Ridenhour, David Ridenhour, Bo Bain, Walt Stewart, Will Stewart, Andrew Stewart, A.J. Stewart, Denny Waite, Fred Washington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William L. Wood and Dr. J.D. Loden.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
