ELISE CASHWELL Saltillo - Elise Cashwell, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in South Carolina on April 19, 1919, to Louis Tucker and Maude Weathersbea Hitt. Elise loved to work in her garden, cook, sew and do anything that was crafty. She was known for her love of taking care of others. Elise loved God and was a faithful servant. She read her Bible and the Lord's Prayer daily until her vision and health declined. Her family then faithfully read the Lord's Prayer to her. She was a member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church. Elise leaves four generations to honor her memory. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, South Carolina. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Toni Johnson of Saltillo; six grandchildren, Lisa Mathis (Dale) of Memphis, Tennessee, Angela Tutor (Kevin) of Saltillo, Patti Yancey (David) of Oakland, Tennessee, Timmy Johnson of Saltillo, Michael Cashwell (Heather) of Savannah, Georgia and Karen Gruber (David) of Palm Harbor, Florida; fifteen great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland G. Cashwell on December 10, 1988; one son, Jerry Cashwell; and two brothers, Vinard Hitt and Moody Hitt. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2014, at W. E. Pegues, Saltillo.
